A cricket match was played in Mr Baigent's paddock at Wakefield yesterday between the Central Wakefield and Wai-iti Clubs, when the latter proved victorious. Iv Ihe first innings the scores were very close, the Wai-itimen making 71 and the Centrals 70. In the next innings Wai-iti only succeeded in running up 35, and their opponents became exceedingly sanguine, but the six duck's eggs that appear on their score showed that they had counted their chickens before they were hatched, and when the last wicket fell the total they had reached did not exceed 18, thus leaving the Wai-iti men the winners by 18 runs.
