London, January 6. An official denial has been given to the report circulated yesterday th-t a torpedo had been found under the bow of H.M.S. Lord Warden in the Firth of Forth. A fire broke; out iv the Liverpool docks to-day, but it was extinguished beforo any damage was done; It has since been discovered that the fire was caused by incendiaries who had used petroleum with the evident intention of completely destroying the docks. Capetown, January 4. News has been received from^Durban that a considerable body of Boers yesterday entered Natal from Transvaal, and marched some distance across the border. They came up with a detachment of British troops, and opposed its advance towards Transvaal. It is not known whether any fighting occurred. BoimAf , 'January 4. The military authorities have received orders to despatch further reinforcements of Indian troops to Natal.
