NELSON LAND BOARD.

The Board met this day. Present—Commissioners Barnicoat, Bird, Sharp, Wastney, and Cbief Commissioner Greenfield. The following sales of Town sections under section 11, appendix E, were agreed to, viz. — Section 4, block 1, Hatter's Terrace, Nelson Creek, Grey district ; and sections 141 and 142, Reefton. A prospecting license for six months from Ist January next was granted to Mr M. Sullivan over 280 acres at Admiralty Bay. The undermentioned prospecting licenses were renewed for six months from Ist December, inst., viz., H. Buckeridge, license No. 76 for 320 acres, Aniseed Valley ;:_icense No. 79 for 195 acres, Aniseed Valley.' • A prospecting license to Charles Corr for 320 acres, district of Mokihinui, was renewed for six months, subject to the approval, of the Minister of Lands. Gold mining leases.— Resolved, That the consent and approval of the Board be "given to the issue of the undermentioned gold mining leases under the Mines Act, 1877: — Barclay and Douglas, sectmu 1, block /V, Waitakeri, 10 acres ; the Comstcci- Gold Mining Company, section 2, block xiv, lieefton, 16a lr 37p ; the Union Quartz Mining Company (Limited), section 7, block ii, Waitahu, 12a 3r 21 p. Resolved, That tbe surhurban sections of Westport, and Waimangaroa ana Westport town sections, Nos. 924 and 925 be offered for sale by public auction by the Chief Com-

nmeioner on Tuesday, lat day of February ' next, at Westport. Withdrawal of Kawatiri lands from sale for the purpose of leasing.— A memorandum from the Under Secretary stating that the Minister for Land considered it undesirable to withdraw the lands from sale in order that i they may be declared open for leasing waa considered and it was resolved, That the Chief Commissioner again communicate with ,the Government with the view to bringing the land referred to nnder the operation of the Leasing Clauses of Appendix E. Nelson Creek Leases and Licenses —Correspondence from Mr Guinncas, Chairman of the Grey County Council, waa read, when it was resolved that the question stand over until after the Chief Commissioner's pro< posed visit to the Grey Valley to confer with the County Chairman and Warden of the District.
