To the Editor of the "Evening Mail." Sir— l wish to take up a small quantity of your space to expose what I consider a most scandalous grievance, in a few words. The Nelson Hospital has a short supply of water, and morning after morning the patients cannot have sufficient water to wash themselves.
Now, Sir, nil medical and thinking men agree that a plentiful supply of good pure water is essential to health, but here in an institution whose specialty is the renovation of health, the supply of this necessary ingredient is short and inadequate to the purposes required. Besides, Sir, there is aaother point of view even more forcible and painful to think of. Supposing a fire were to break out on the premises in the night time, why the patients, the bulk of whom are perfect cripples, some from apine complaint, others from amputation, and so on, would inevitably be burnt in their beds. Whether the fault lies. with tbe City Couucil or the Hospital authorities I do not know, but I trust* you will agree with me that the matter requires ventilating. — I am, &c, .A PAiiEiJT.
