The Grafton arrived from West Coast ports last night, and sailed for Wellington and Lyttelton this morning. The Wakatu sails for Wanganui and Wellington at 8 o'clock to-nighc. The Kennedy arrived at Westport yesterday morning. The Murray leaves Greymouth for Hokitika to-morrow. Tbe Charles Edward arrived here from the West Coast on Saturday evening, and leaves for Wellington at seven o'clock tonipht. The Rotorua, with the Suez mail, arrived at the Bluff at 11-30 a.m. to-day. The Uno arrived from Fern Town on Saturday night with a cargo of coal for Messrs Mon tray and Crosbie. The Taiaroa bas been taken off tbe Northern trade, and will during the wool season run between Timaru and Port Chalmers. Her place will be taken by the Penguin. The Penguin left Wellington at noon today, will arrive here tomorrow morning, and sail for Picton, Wellington, and South by j the same tide nt noon. ' j Tbe Wanaka arrived at Wellington on Saturday night, and after receiving the ! Southern portion of the San Francisco mail from tbe Penguin sailed for Taranaki and Manukau yesterday afternoon. The mails should reach Auckland in plenty of time to catch the Zealandio, which leaves there for Honolulu to-morrow afternoon. The steamer Durham is advertised to leave Lyttelton for London direct on Dec 13 The fares range from 18 to 60 guineas. The last opportunity of catching her will be by the Wanaka on Thursday. Messrs J. H. Cock and Co. ore the Nelson agents. There was an unprecedentedly high tide yesterday morning, the heavy N.W." gale having made it rise, to an unusual height. The steam launch Tainui broke adrift from her moorings, bufc was boarded by the crew ' of the pilot boat, and brought to anchor just before she reached Haulasbore Island. The Australian Maid dragged her anchor but a kedge having been quickly run out she did not drift; .very far. No damage was done to the shipping, masters of coasting vessels having taken, the precaution to haul away from the wharves before the sea was too high.
