Captain Edwin reported at 4 18 pm. :■— *'Bad weather approaching, any direction between north-west and west and south. Glass will fall a tenth, but rising again within ten hours '' the Kennedy leffc for Wellington at seven o'clock this morning. '. The Charles Edward waß unable to leave Greymouth to-day on account of the heavy sea running on the bar. The Mnrray arrived from Wanganui this tnorning, and leaves for West Coast ports at ten o'clock tomorrow morning. The Ilawea sailed for Picton, Wellington, and South at 6 a.m. to-day, having beeD detained by bad weather. The" Comet is goading at Waitapu witb timber for the South. The Taiaroa left New Plymouth at 11-30 this morning, will arrive here to-morrow morning, and sail for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton by the same tide at 9 a.m. The Wanaba leaves Wellington at noon to morrow, will arrive here on Friday morn ing, and sail for Taranoki and Manukau at 10 30 a.m. oi Saturday, carrying the outward San Francisco ma >1. The Li)dy Baikly, which returned from Golden Bay this afternoon, will make an excursion tiipto Motueka to-morrow, leaving here at 7 a.m. and there on the return trip at 7 pm. Should the weather prove line, no doubt a large number of people will nvail themselves of this opportunity of payiog a visit to that pretty little village. The Croydon Lass, which left here for Waitapu, on Saturday night, was seen yesterday afternoon shaping a course for Motu€ka. ' The Dido, which sailed on Monday night for the same place, was also sighted, apparently steering for Astrolabe. The Reward was also passed in the bay, and no j doubt reached some place of shelter before dark. The Union Company's time table for December notifies that from the 15th December, 1880, to 31st January, 1881, return tickets will be issued between ports within flew Zealand at which the Company's Bteamers call at a reduction of 30 per cent on the two single fares, available for the return journey until the 28th February, 1881. Steamers leaving Dunedin on December; 30th and January 21st, will call at Milford ! Sound en route to Melbourne, and atcameia jeaving Melbourne on December 28th and January 18th will also call there en route to Dunedin. The Hero again makes a circuitous trip, proceeding from Melbourne to Sydney, thence" to Auckland, and from there to Greymouth and HokitilcH, returning to Melbourne by way of . Newcastle. The Albion's rame is not mentioned in the time table. The Penguin. .will continue to ply up the East Coast. About 8 p.m. on Saturday last some little j commotion was caused amongst the.passengers on board the Rotomahana, which was then lying off Napier, by the vigorous ringing - of the firebell. The alarm, however, quickly subsided when it was ascertained that only a kerosenelamp had burst in the wheel-room, and before much chance of a conflagration could be anticipated it was totally extinguished.
