London, November 23. Tbe December series of wool auctions opened to-day. There was a good attendance of home and foreign buyers. The opening catalogue comprised 4,800 bales, and prices were firmly maintained and there was a fair competition. The series closes on December 14. A sanguinary fight took place at Billina in County Mayo, Ireland, to-day, between the police and tbe people who were obstructing the arrest of some Leaguers. Several policemen were severely wounded. Fifteen persons have been arrested in Mayo on a charge of intimidation of the landlords. Consols are unchanged at 99$ Adelaide wheat ex warehouse, 575; New Zealand wheat ex ship, 46s 6o\ Arrived — Ship Remington from Lyttelton, sailed August 23. The homeward mail, via San Frinciaco, which left Auckland on October 12, was delivered here to-day.

Tbe latest intelligence from the dpe states that 1,500 Colonial forces repulsed 5000 Basutos on tbe 14th insfc. 300 rebels were killed and wounded.
