Nov. 23, steamer Wanaka, 376, M'umivray, for Picton, Wellington, and South. Pansengers: Misses Boyd, Jones, Mesdames Heywood and 2 children, Engel, Fielder and sou, Messrs Wilson, Sinclair, Thompson, Moore, Burrow, Jones, Heywood. — steamer Grafton, 156, Johnston, for Wellington and South.
The Kennedy's departure for West Coast ports is postponed till 3 p.m. to- morrow. The Charles Edward arrived from West Coast ports last night and leaves for Wellington direct at 7 o'clock this evening. The Lyttelton leaves for Blenheim at 3 p.m. to-morrow. The Murray and Wallace are both detained at Hokitika by bad weather. The next steamer from Southern ports Will be the Taiaroa. She left Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon, and will arrive here on Friday. The Wanaka arrived here at 939 a.m. today, having left Lyttelton on Saturday sight, Wellington at noon yesterday, and Picton late last night. After landing and shipping a few tons of cargo she sailed for Picton, Wellington, and South by the same tide shortly after noon. The departure of the Lady Barkly for Golden Bay has been postponed until 7 30 p.m. to-morrow, owing the unfavourable state of the weather. The Wakatu has been detained at Wanganui through stress of weather. She will arrive here to-morrow morning, and Bail for Wanganui and Wellington at 8 p.m. The Grafton arrived from West Coast ports at 11 a.m. to-day, and sailed for Wellington by the same tide at noon. The Hawea leaves Onehnnga to-day, will arrive here to-morrow night, and sail for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton at noon on Thursday. The Wanaka and Grafton had a spin together along the Boulder Bank this afternoon. The latter left the wharf some fifteen minutes before the former, and although a good boat in a seaway is no match for the Wanaka, which passed her before she bad gone many miles. There was a tremendously heavy sea running, which considerably retarded the progress of both steamers.
