Nov. 9. steamer Taiaroa, 228, M'Gee, for Picton, Wellington, and South. — steamer Murray, 78, Conway, for West Coast. Passengers :Mr ancl Mrs Cameron, Mr and Mrs Emerson and family, (11). — steamer Wakatu, 78, Evans, for Wanganui. The Charles Edward left Hokitika for Greymouth this afternoon. The Lyttelton leaves for Blenheim tomorrow at 5 p.m. The Murray left for thc West Coast ports yesterday afternoon. The Uno, from Wairau, brings a cargo of potatoes. The Catherine Leed commenced discharging this morning. Her cargo of sugar is in splendid condition. The Wakatu sailed for Wanganui last night, and was lo call at Durville's Island en route. The Penguin left Onehunga yesterday, will arrive here, during to-night, and sail for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton at 1 p m. to-morrow. Tbe Wanaka leaves Wellington at noon tomorrow, will arrive here on Friday morn ing, and sail for Taranaki and Manukau at 4 .p.m. same day. The next steamer for Melbourne will be the Rotorua, which leaves Wellington on Monday. Passengers will be forwarded to her by tbe Penguin to-morrow. The Wallace returned to port at 9.30 p m. yesterday from her monthly trip to the bays und sounds on tbe West Coast of the Middle Islaud. She left Nelson at 4 a.m. on October 17th, and arrived at Greymouth at 8.30 a m. on the 18th ; sailed a« 8.30 am. on the 19th, and reached Hokitika by the same tide; left for Soutb at 11 p.m. on the 20tb, aud arrived at Okarita at noon on the 21st ; was detained there until 5 p.m. on tbe 27th, when she proceeded on to Pariogn, off which place tbe anchor was dropped at II p.tn. ; landed cargo there and at Bruce Bay on the following day, leaving at 6 p.m. for Okura, wbich was reached at 6.a.m on tbe 29th ; steamed southwards at 6 p.m. and called at Jackson's Bay, where mails, passengers, and cago were landed, leaving there at midnight ; worked Bfg and Martin's Boys on tbe 30th, and tnoved northwards at 11 am., but owing to the heavy northerly gale blowing, the steamer was compelled to" run for Milford Sound, where she remained until noon on the 31st, when tbe Wallace took her departure ; came to an anchor nt Bjg Bay at noon, and as the gale continued to blow with unabated vigor, she stayed there until 7 p.m. ou November Ist ; at 4.30 a.m on the 2nd was obliged oner more to seek shelter from the gnle afc Milford Sound, where the anchor was dropped afc noon ; left at 4.30 a.m. on the 3rd, nnd reached Jackson's Biy at 11.30 a.m. ; sailed afc 530 pm., and made fast to Hokitika ■wharf at 9.30 a.m. on the 4th ; was detained there until 10 a.m. on the Gth, when she sailed for Greymouth, arriving there by the same tide ; was again detained until 2 p.m on the Bth, when she proceeded on to Westport, reaching there at 11 pm. same day; left at 1 a.m. yesterday, arriving here as above. The Wallace has again been unfortunate in the matter of weather, a series of gales with continuous rain baving been experienced from the time of her leaving Hokitika until returning there. She sails for Wellington at 9 o'clock to-night.
