London, October 20. The death is announced to-day of the Right Hon Alfred Thesiger, one of the Lord Justices of the Court of Appeal. A very severe snowstorm has fallen throughout England. New Yobk, October 21. Intelligence has been received that a storm of a most severe character has passed over Luke Michigan and caused great loss of life and chipping. Nine vessels became total wrecks and a number of others suffered severely. Over 100 persons have perished. Cape Town, Oct. 21. Telegrams have been received announcing that the force under Colonel Clarke, which was sent to the relief of the Cape Rifles at Mafeting, has arrived there, nod after severe fighting with the Basutos, who had invested the place, the junction of the two forces was effected.
