To the Editor, op thb "Evening Mail.'' Sir — In answer to your correspondent respecting the fixing of Saturday for the children's gathering, I may say that it was not without much deliberation and discussion that Saturday afternoon was fixed ; though inconvenient to some, it is more convenient than any othbr day to many others. The' meeting iB not intended to occupy tbe whole day, and tha Committee hoped that bj due notice business might be suspended for a short time on Saturday afternoon, and thei B hops opened again if necessary. It would , have required tbe proclamation of a holiday! to hare had it on another day of the week,! and it was the opinion of many on the Committee that there are quite enough holidays already. Tbere are other occasions for children's festivities. This meeting ia held in the open air as we hope to have more children gathered together over six years of age than can be collected in any room in Nelson. The Committee would be glad to know of places of business which would be willing to close between 2.30 and 5 on Saturday week next, so as to gire their employees and opportunity of being pre.ent. Yours, &c, . A. B. Sdter, Bishop of Nelson, Chairman S.S CC.
