Passengers: Mrs Smith, Messrs Hale, Young, Auderson, Stanock, Williams, and 3 steerage. SAILED. Sfpt, 24, steamer Lady Barkly, 30, Walker, for Golden Bay. — steamer Wanaka, 276, M'Gee, for Taranaki and Manukaii. Passengers: Mise Green, Mrs and Mrs Black, Messts Saxtou, Sraiib, Maniatta. — ketch Oaaielia, 10, Young for Motupipi, The Lady Barkly sailed for Golden Bay this morning The Charles Edward is still detained at Westport by heavy weather. The Putea reached Wellington at 11 o'clock last night. The Murray arrived from Wanganul this morning, and leaves for Wellington at 7 o'cl' ek this evening. The Lyttelion reached Blenheim this morning, and left for Y/ellingtou this afteroo<n. The Taiaroa arrived at Wellington this morning, and leaves there for Ljttelton this afternoon. Tho Wanaka left Port Chalmprs at 130 p.m. on Monday, called at.Akaroa, and reached Lyttelton at 1 pm. on Tuesday; Bailed at 930 p.m same day, and arrived at W< 1 ington at 4*30 p.m. on Wednesday ; "left at 12,30 p.m. yesterday, called at Picton, and arrived here at 830 am. to-day. Captain M'Gee, late of the Wellington, is in charge of the Wanaka this trip. After lauding and discarding carfjo she sailed for Taranaki and Manukau by the samft tide at 1 10 p.m. The Sorata is the third vessel stranded within a mile of each other during fifteen years. She belonged to the Pacific Company, and was valued at about £100,000. She was not insured as the company are their own insurers. David Parkinson Garbut, .sole owner of the steamer Maryborough, of Hull, has beeu committed for trial by the Cardiff niagis- ♦ trate on a charge of sending the vessel to Bea in an unseaworthy state. The Board of Trade alleged that the vessel was overloaded and undermanned when she left Cardiff in November last, and that the defendant had altered the Plimsoll mark. She left with , 2390 tonB of coals, 100 tons more than she had ever carried before, and with twentyfive instead of twenty-seven hands. She was never heard of after. Bail was allowed.
