TMe Wallace arrived from her periodical, visit to the bays and sounds on the west coast of this island a* 6 o'clock this morning. She left here on August 18th, and Hokitika at 2 p.m. on the 26th, arriving at Okarito at 1.30 p.m. ; was detained there until. 8.30. a.m. on .September 2nd, when she steamed southwards, an 3 came to any anchor at Open Bay Islaud at 5 p.n^ ; on the 3rd arrived at Ihe Okura and Haast rivers, but as they were not workable the Wallace Bteamed on to Jackson's Bay, and reached tb.e«s at 1 1 a.m. ; left at 11 p.m., and on the 4th* worked Big and Martin's Bays, and arrived at Milford Sound at 4.30 p.m. ; ateamed northwards at 6 a.m. on the sth, called at Jackeoa's Bay and Okura River, and reached Hokitika at 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday ; .left at 10.20 a.m. : on Wednesday, and arrived at Greymouth at 12.30 p.m. ..same tide ?- sailejd for Nelson 1 at 11.30 p.m.,. arriving here as above.
