Aug. 30, steamer Charles Edward, 125, Wbitwell, for West Coast. Passengers : Miss Park, Mesdames Hughes, Crawford, Craddock, Reid, Rowe, Nahr, Giles, and 8 children, Messrs Bourke, Saudry, Grieve, Moore, Nahr, Morris, Coates, Webb-Bowen, and 35 Chinese.

The Lady Barkly reti raed from Golden last uight. Tbo Patea sailed for Patea shortly after noon to-day. The Charles Edward sailed for the West Coast, last evening. The Murray was unable to leave Greymouth this morning, the bar having silted np, leaving only six feet of water. The Lyttelton arrived from Blenheim this morning, and sails for Wellington at 8 o'clock to-morrow morning.

The Wallace, which grounded while entering Ok-irito on Thursday, got off the following tide without sustaining auy damage. The Wakatu arrived from Wanganui this morniug with a cargo of live stock. She sails for Wanganui and Wellington torncrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.

The Taiaroa leaves Manukau this afternoon, will arrive here to-morrow night, aud sail for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton at 3 p m. on Thursday.

, The- Grafton is expected to arrive here tomorrow from Wellington and South. She is announced to sail for West-port and Greymouth the same day.

The Hawea arrived here at 3 o'clock this afternoon, having left Lyttelton ou Sunday night, Wellington at 12 o'clock last night, and Picton this morning. She has 50 tons of cargo to land, and will sail for Picton, Wellin^fcjc, aud South by the same tide at 5 p.m.

1 The Hero left Syduey on Saturday for Wellington direct. From there she proceeds to Auckland, and thence to Sydney and Melbourne. If sufficient inducement offers it is intended to keep her runniug on this trade.

Captain Chevalier of the R.M.S. Zealandia has recently organised bis crew into a fire brigade, and on the last visit of that steamer to Sydney, they were put through a course of fire drill, boat drill, &c, in the presence of a number of insurance agonts and others.
