OUTRAGES IN IRELAND.
(" Home News.") Scenes of violence and outrage are becoming frequent again in Ireland. A few days ago an alarming riot occured at Dunmorekaue, near Balliuaraore, County Leitrim. Mr. Henry B. Acheson, wbo lives in County Roscommon, arrived witb a party of laborers to fence a farm from wbich a tenant bad been evicted. The men bad not been long at work when some hnndreds of peasantry from the surrounding district assembled at the spot, armed witb spades, pitchforks, and a few of them witb guns. With shouts of execration and volleys of.stones, tbey compelled the proprietor and his party to desist and fly for their lives. Mr. Acbeson discharged tbree shots from a revolver and wounded a man, wbo died tbe next day. Tbe police were promptly at the scene, but were received witb showers of stones, wbich wounded some of tbem. Mr. Acbeson, who escaped unhurt, has been arrested. This is tbe second unsuccessful attempt be has made to fence tbe farm. A farmer residing at Craggagh, near Balle, was on tbe Hth June seized by
a number of men, who " carded "him, pierced his ears, and otherwise intimidated him. His assailants also discharged several shots over tho house. The outrage is ascribed to the fact that the injured man recently took some land frora which a tenant had been evicted. Two tenants on the property of Mr. J S. Gibbons, J.P., at Ballincorrig, about three miles from Westport, ;were evicted on June Hth. During the proceedings the sheriff was assaulted and pelted with mud. The people would have assaulted the police but for tbe intervention of some representatives of the Land League. The sheriff's horse was pelted with stones, and rushed away wildly through the country, leaving tbe sheriff to make his way on foot. Some occurrences of a serious nature bave just taken place at Tunm, marked by inhuman brutality. The house of a farmer wbo resides at Sylane was entered by a party of disguised men, who dragged tbe unfortunate occupant ontside and carded bim. The man's flesh was terribly lacerated. He could make no resistance, and is either unable or unwilling to identify the perpetrators of that diabolical deed. ., The cause alleged is, some dispute about a jbog. On the same eveuing tbe house of another man residing at Cloonkeely was entered, and presumably by the same party of murdering marauders. Tbe unfortunate man was forced out of his dwelling, and submitted to tbe same cruel treatment. He lies in a very precarious condition. The cause supposed to lead to this villainous act was his. having taken some land recently. The honses of these men were -considerably damaged, and leaden pellets found in tbe window sills show signs of shot having been used by the aggressors. The same evening the residence of Mr. Lynch was disturbed by the report of. shots outside, but happily no damage was caused, xmaaam _i _mm___i__ iwhtcb*
