GREAT STORM IN AMERICA. London, August 21. Arrived — Ship Hopeful, from Oamaru, sailed May 11. August 23. There are indications that the friendly relations between Russia and China are increasing. Mr Forster, Chief Secretary for Ireland, who recently visited Ireland, haa now returned to London. The land meetings held throughout Ireland on Sunday laßt were of a peaceful character. Intelligence has been received from Candahar that the British gnrrisou there made a sortie from the citadel on Ayub Khan's besieging force, and inflicted heavy loss upon the enemy. News has also been received that large bodies of hostile tribes of Heratees bave gathered in force to the north of Khojak, presumably to oppose General Phayre's advance from that place. . New Orleans, August 21. A great storm passed over the towns of Brownville, in Texas, and Matamoras, in Mexico, situated on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico. Both places were partially destroyed, and great damage was dove to the shipping, several steamboats having been wrecked. Constantinople, August 23. fn consequence of the pressure brought to bear by the Powers, the Turkish Government has at length decided to take firm steps for the settlement of the Albanian-Monte-negrin difficulty. It was arranged a fort night ago to send a force of 2UOO againßt the Albanians, but Ali Riza Pasha haß now been ordered to proceed with 40,000 Turkish troops to Dulcigno, on the Adriatic, to en force the surrender of that pore and surrounding districts to Montenegro, in accordance with tbe decision of the Powers.
