Eesolved, Tbafc the Chairman be informed, in reply, tbafc tbe Board bas received advice from the Chief Surveyor that the District, Surveyor is now engaged in making the requisite survey, so as to be enabled to lay off the boundary ; also, to request tbo Council to grant a sufficient sum to compete the road iip to tha boundary, tbe Parliamentary vote being all exhausted on the part ot fche road already formed. Should the Council make such a grant, fche Board will be happy to undertake the work. Resolved, Thafc tbe Resident Engineer's attention bo called to a culvert where the road from Fox Hill to Qua'l Valley crosses old bod of Pretty Bridge Btreatn, and whioh appears to be insufficient to carry tbe drainago, tbe gravel having been recently carried off fche road. Mr H. Challis complained of water being backed upon bis land owing to a hollowing baying been filled up in the formation of the road. Resolved, Tbat tbe Board supply drain pipes, Mr Challis carting and putting them in. Mr James Arnold applied to be oompen-

sated for grubbing gorse on road by his land, tbe gorse baying grown theie in consequence ofthe formation of the road ; he .aleo wished that the centre of tbe road wbere such grubbing baa been done should be gravelled, tbat tbe road by Eouphton'a be- made passable, and that the foot-bridge at 40-line bo attended to. The Overseer was directed to examine and report on the road by Houghton's, and attend to tho bridge 5 tbe other matters to be again considered. Mr J. Satherly requested permission to erect a gate on the road by the river side from Appleby bridge towards the village, or flee lo procure tbat tbe waste land at tbe river side be constituted a public reserve. Permission granted to pu' up a gate. Mr J. Malcolm complained of water being backed on his land in consequence of insufficient waterway in a culvert, Resolved, Tbat Mr Fowler and the Overseer examine. Mr Price urged tho erection of the pronwod foot- bridge over ibe Wai-iti on the . Quail Valley road. Tho Ovevseer etated that it was on record thafc the Board would drive the piles, provided the applicants for a bridge provided otber materials, wbich they have promised to do. .Resolved, That the work be proceeded witb within three monthß from this date. Complaint baying been made of improper treatment of the Board's pile-driver when lent to contractors, ifc waa resolved tbat in future a charge be made for its use, aDd tbat the party ueing it be held responsible for leaving ifc in good working order when done with. Beeolved, That tbe Overseer arrange with Mr CaDniDg respecting the gravel he bas offered to sell to tbe Board, and, should the arrangement bo. satisfactory, that tenders be invited for gravelling part of tbe Swamp road.
