Passengers : Mrs Builey and 4 children, Mr Beutley, and 8 for West Coast. SAILED. August 1, cutter Wave, 10, Ricketts, for Torrent Bay, \ — Bteamer Grafton, 156, Johnston, for West Coast.
The Lyttelton leaves for Wellington direct at 8 o'clock to-night. The Wallace entered Greymouth this morning, and will leavo for Hokitika tomorrow morning. The Charles Edward has not yet left Greymouth, but fully expects to get out to-morrow morning. The Murray was unable to enter Greymouth this morning, and lefb the roadstead for Westport. The Awaroa, with a cargo of cement, arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning. Tbe Hawea left Onehunga to-day, will arrive here to-morrow night, and sail for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The Wakatu has been detained at Wanganui, and will not arrive here until to-mor-row morning. She sails for Wanganui and Wellington at 4 p.m. A telegram was received last night by Captain Scott of the Chaudiere advising bim to proceed at once to Napier, there to load for London. The barque will be towed to sea to-niorrow morning. A heavy S E. gale raged at Wellington on Saturday, and in consequence several small steamers which bad intended to proceed to sea that day, had to postpone their departure. The Union Company is likely to meet with some opposition in the trade between Sydney and Wellington shortly, the owners of the Hero beiug about to -run that Bteamer between Sydney, Wellington, and Auckland, the Empire City being the first port of call on the coast. The Grafton left Lyttelton at 6 p.m. on Friday, and reached Wellington at noon on Saturday; soiled at 6 p.m. yesterday, towing out tbe barque Sophia R. Luhrs, bound for Newcastle, and arrived here at 730 a.m. today. Experienced fresh S.E. wind during last night. She sailed for West Coast ports at. 2 p.m. The Wanaka left Lyttelton at 9 p.m. on Saturday, and reached Wellington at 2 p.m. on Sunday ; sailed at 1 p.m. • yesterday, called at Picton, and arrived here at 530 a.m. to-day. Experienced strong S.E. winds ■with high sea while crossing the Straits. , bhe sails for Picton, Wellington, and South at 4 p m. ■ *-■*«
