PUBE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTBACT TTNDER the Distinguished Patronage oi U his Majesty the Eing of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction*- from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucaljptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, tb* consequences would not be serious ; : but as the qualities oi both of tbe products are in many esses directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the' public attention to tbe following facts :— - The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be oi value as a medicament in cases of rheums* tism of secondary nature, and mHnifje&ts a drawing, blistering effect upon tbe skin. Any Wittering brought on by the application ot a medicament muet increasa inflemmation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of woundß, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprain b, etc.. the curative power ol our extract on the named diseases beinp unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of ihe oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased • . ! The truth of our assertion in founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to coma- on turpentiue, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight } our txtrcct coreiets of the evaporating particles of the gum leaveß, pqotbing and heuling in its effects, its price' being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in balf-ounce and one-ounce vials:; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
