Dear Sir — As a previous engagement unfortunately prevents my being preseut this evening at the annual inectiug of the Nelson Aid Society, I write to ask if you will kindly mention that all those who took part in a recent entertainment on behalf of the Hospital Convalescent Fuud have expressed their willingness to give another entertainment for the benefit of the Nelson Aid Society, which, from the chairman's letter in last evening's Mail, is shown to be at present destitute of funds. An early reply would greatly oblige Tours faithfully, F. W. Thompson. To F. W. Thompson, Esq. Nelson, 17th July, 1880. Dear Sir. — I regret you could not be present at the meeting of the Nelson Aid Society last evening. I mentioned your kind offer to the Committee, and have been requested to thank you for the same, and inform you of the following resolution :— " This Committee,- while glad to accept contributions to its funds, cannot enter into the responsibility of saying beforehand whether it would accept the proceeds of any lecture or entertainment which may be proposed."
