PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT TT NDER fcne Distinguished Patronage ol U his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, "upon instruction* from the Minister lor Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in tbe trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. Ho farasthecommittiDg of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as tbe qualities of both of tbe products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be oi value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the sUn. Any blibtering brought on by the application ot a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, epraine, etc.. the curative power oi our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications ; in tbis paper. An .application of Ibe oil instead of our extract mußt impair the diseased * The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact tbat the oil is a resinous product equivalent to comu on turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its efitcts, its price beicg twenty-four shillings for one pound weight Our extract, tbe genuine article is only mad( up in balf-ounce and one-ounce vials ; viali bearing on the labels our trade mark am signature.
