PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBJTLUS EXTRACT XTNDER the Distinguished Patronage ol U hiß Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction* from the Minister for. Foreign Affairs, dated 1 4th March, 1 878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value bb a medicament in caseß of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests ft drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blittering brought on by the application ot a medicament nniet increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains," etc.. the curative power oi our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of cur extract must impair the diseased * The truth of our assertion ir founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous productequivalent to com n. on turpentine, its market value being about three, shillings one pound weight ; our extract consibts of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty -four shillings for one pound, weight, Our extract, the genuine article is enly made up in balf-ounce and one-ounce vialß ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
