ARRIVAL OF THE CHAUDIERE.
This vessel arrived at the outer anchorage yesterday afternoon after an uneventful voyage, and will be towed into harbor this afternoon by the Murray. She is still under the command of Captain R. P. Scott, who was here in her last voyage, and whom we welcome back again. It is to him we are indebted for the following particulars of the passage : — The Chaudiere left the East India Docks on March 3 and anchored at Gravesend ; took in a quantity of powder and left there on the following day ; had light winds with thick weather down the Channel, and discharged the pilot off the Start on IMarch 10 ; experienced moderate weather until sighting Madeira on March 26; light N.E. Trades were met with, and the Equator was crossed on April 13th in long. 25degs. 30mins. W.; thence had moderate Trades well from the south-west, crossing the Meridian of Greenwich on May 1 1 , in lat. 42 S. ; had the usual westerly winds, and ran down the easting in 45 South ; reached the Meridian of Tasmania on June 17, when easterly winds set in, and continued until the arrival of the vessel here as above.
