During the first five months of 1880 no fewer than 22,219 cases of rabbits were' shipped into England from Ostend. As each caße contains on an average six dozen rabbits, this gives a total supply of 1,599,768 rabbits for five months. As in addition to these, rabbits are sent from Antwerp, Calais, and Flushing— all of which are sold as Ostend— tbe actual supply for the period must have been more than 2,000,000 rabbits. The supply has been far below the average of the past few years, the wet season of last year having killed large n ambers of rabbits.
