An Auckland telegram of Tuesday says:— The Southern Cross, from Levulca, bringß the following news to date 12th June: — Tbe Colonial Company, of Sydney, is erectiDg sugar manufacturing plant, at a cost. of .£IOO,OOO, and guarantees to commence operations in June, 1882, paying 10a per ton for cane; — Bishop Selwyn arrived at Levuka on Ist June in the Meg Merrilies, and goes on to Sydney. The Meg Merrilies is loading for Auckland with maize.r-A. few good specimens of auriferous " quartz' have been discovered in Levur.and a Government prospecting party has gone out to follow up the seam. The discovery has been made by a New Zealand miner.
