VOLUNTEER PRIZE FIRING.
The firing for the citizens' prizes took place at the Maitai Range yesterday, which was pretty generally observed as a holiday. The Civilians' Match, wbich was the first on the programme, was the only oiie that was completed, owing to the entries being Sd numerous that it was -'impossible to get through the whole cf the firing before dusk. Ifc was, therefore, decided to conclude it this afternoon, and the competition is {.roceeding as we go to press. The whole of the prizes will be distributed in the Drill Shed on Monday evening. The following is the list of the winners, the prizes, and their donors, in the Civilians' Match. Christian, 15— half ton coal, Mr Cross; A. Hunter, 15 — bag sugar, Mr Franzen; W. Brown, 14— box banderchiefs, Black & Son; H. Barnett, 14 — a parcel, Mr Chißholm; Harding, 14— two smoking caps, a young lady; F. Greenfield, 14— photographic album, Mr uarby; M'Cabe, 11— a hat, Mr Hill; E. Hounsell, 10— a clock, Mr Jackson; J. Percy, 9— pair boots, Mr Lightband; J. Akersten, 9— a goose, Mr Patterson; J. Harley, 8 — pair vases, Mr Budden; T. Edwards, B— bar of soap, Mr Gay.
