London, June 4. Best Australian mutton tallow is quoted at Sss. The total stock of tallow in London on the Ist instant was 17>000 casks. New Zealand wheat ex ship 48s. SpofEorth, in the second innings of the Burnley men, took twelve wickets in fifteen overs. June 5. At the wool sales to-day 8,300 hales were offered, making a total of 371,600 catalogued since the opening. The firm tone which marked yesterday's sale was again sustained. The homeward mails via San Francisco, bearing New Zealand dates to April 27, were delivered in London to-day. All the necessary arragements have been made for the approaching European Conference, to be held at Berlin. Lord Odo Russell, British ambassador at Berlin, and General Sir Lintorn Simmons will represent England. The Powers to be represented at the Conference have agreed to take the question of the Greek claims first into consideration. The British Government are making efforts to prerent any serious conflict occurring betwen Montenegro and Albania, and hopes are entertained that a peaceful solution of the difficulty may be secured. Rangoon, June 4. Later news states that the insurrection in Independent Burmese is rapidly extending. A severe encounter has taken place between a force of Burmese Government troops and a body of rebels when the former were defeated, and their commander was captured by the rebels and beheaded. The four companies of the British regiment which •were ordered to the frontier of British Burmah have already started.
