So fsr as the committicg of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, tho consequences would not be serious ; but -as the qualities of both of the products are jin many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value us a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests ; a drawing, blistering effect upon the si in. ! Any blistering brought on by the application ot a medicament must .increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that>in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. the curative , power pi our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased • \ The truth of oar assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil- is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evapqrating .'particles of the gum -leaves, soothing and healing, in its effects, its price beipg twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; vsala bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
