STICKING UP A BANK.
Sydney, Wednesday. Arrived — Union Company's steamer Tararua from Auckland.
The Commercial Bank of Sydney at Qiiirindi has been robbed by four armed men, who were masked. The manager of the Bank was engaged in feeding his horses at ten o'clock p.m., when suddenly he was bailed up and compelled to open the safe from which £486 in gold was taken. The' manager's wife and sister were covered by revolvers while the money was being taken. The robbers departed at one o'clock in the morning. The clerk was absent on leave of absence, and the police were engaged on country duty. Melbourne, Wednesday. The total entries for the Melbourne Cup are 110, and for the Champion race 49.
News from home states that Murdoch has 'succeeded Boyle^as captain of the Australian team.
Thursday. Arrived : Eotorua from the Bluff. JE. Lsycock, the well-known oarsman of
Sydney, has gone to England by the Aconcagua. It is stated that he is desirous of meeting Hanlon.
