Passengers: Bachelder's Combination Troupe, and 12 others. 28, schooner Awaroa, 60, Greager, from Timaru. — schooner Dido, 58, Johnston, for Lytton via Waitapu. SAILED. May 27, steamer Charles Edward, 125, Whitwell, for Wellington. Passengers: Misses Whitwell (2), Messrs Hill, Sullivan, and 22 others. — steamer Grafton, 156, Johnston, for Wellington. .— steamer Wellington, 279, Malcolm, for Taranaki and Manukau. Passengers : Messrs Daniels, Gordon, Garland, and Metcalf. — steamer Taiaroa, 228, Pietersen, for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Passengers: Major Richmond, Messrs A. Adams, A. J. Richmond, Shephard, Hursthouse, Kaurt, Ali, Boghal, M'Kelvie, M'Caul, Johnston, Saunders, Jenkins, Gall, Jennings, Gorrie, Bradley, M'Gee, and Green. Captain R. A. Edwin reports at 1258 p.m. : — " Bad weather approaching from any direction between south and east and northeast. Glass will show further fall. Expect rain and very high tides " The Murray arrived at Westport yesterday morning, and Hokitika this morning. The Wellington sailed for Taranaki and Manukau at 11 o'clock last night. The Awaroa arrived from Timaru this morning. The Dido sailed last night for Waitapu, there to load with timber for Lyttelton. •The Grafton sailed for Wellington last night, and arrived there at 10 a.m to-day. The Albion left Melbourne for New Zeaports yesterday. She will be due at Hokitika on Tuesday night. The Kennedy left Westport last night for Karamea and Nelson. She may be expected here to-morrow morning, and will leave for Wellington direct at 8 p.m. The Charles Edward arrived at Wellington at 10*30 this morning after calling at Guard's passage in the Pelorus Sound. She may he expected back to-morrow morning, and will leave for West Coast ports on Sun~ day at 2 p.m. Nothing is known regarding the doings of the Maori on the West Coast further than she arrived at Hokitika on Sunday night, but she should show up to-morrow morning. She is announced to sail for Lyttelton and Dunedin at 11 a.m., taking Melbourne passengers to the Botomahana. The Taiaroa came into harbor last night, and sailed for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton by the same tide at 11*15 pm. She made a long passage from Taranaki, having experienced a hard S.E, gale, with a tremendously heavy bead sea, against which she fought her way with difficulty. Nevertheless Bhe behaved gallantly, and after a hard struggle arrived here at 6 p.m. yesterday, the steamer having been 25 hours coming 148 miles. The Penguin is laid up at Port Chalmers, and the Hawea has taken up her running on the East Coast trade. Information baa been received by the Marine Department at Wellington that a large raft of timber, which might be dangerous to shipping, has been observed adrifc about; 10 miles W.S.W. of Separation Point. An Auckland telegram of Tuesday says: — The City of Sydney sailed for San Francisco at 5 p.m. In hauling alongside of the wharf at 3 o'clock this morning, in charge of the pilot, she struck the main T near the centre. The woodwork of the structure where the steamer collided was crushed like an egg shell, and the platform for a distance of SO feet, completely carried away and damaged for a further distance of 100 feet. Ten piles were smashed off and others strained to such an extent as to require removal. It is estimated that repairs will cost over £500.
