PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPXTNDER the Distinguished Patronage ol \J his Majdety tbe King of Italy, at P.ome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, et Melbourne, upon instruction* from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade inßtead of our £ucal\ ptua Extract. So for as tte committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concemed } the consequences would not be seriouß ; but; as the qualities of both of the products are in many esses directly opposed to one another, we consider ifc enr duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— • The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value 68 a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, sad manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the sHn. Any"bli&tering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc., the curative power oi our extract on tha named diseases being unqueßtionabiy proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased •' The truth of onr assertion is founded upon the fact tbat tbe oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market yalue being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, eoo'hiug and healing in its effc.ctu, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in balf-ounce and one-otmce vials ; via!s bearing on the labsis our trade mark and signature.
