Monday being Her Majesty's Birthday, the regular fortnightly civil sittings of the District Court will take place on Tuesday. The petition for adjudication against W. Carter Webb, in which Mr Pitt appears for the petitioning creditors is set down for bearing, and the case of Adams v. Wheeler will be tried with the assistance of a jury. Mr Acton Adams is the plaintiff, and the defendant, who resides in Dunedin, has retained Mr Eell. Owing to the uncertain slate of the weather there was but a limited attendance at the Port Hall last night, and the lecture which was to have been delivered by the Bey J. Beckenham was consequently for a fortnight. Mr John E. Mabin repoito the sale of sections 55, 56, and 57, containing about 115 acres, situate near Mount Heslington, Brightwater, for ,£SOO. A letter from Mr R. Gray is unavoidably held over until to-morrow. The adjourned meeting of the Licensed Victuallers will be held to-morrow afternoon at half-past two o'clock, at the Masonic Hall. Should we be favored with "Queen's weather " on Monday next, there will probably be a large muster of civilians as well as Volunteers at the Maitai range, where the day is to be devoted to firing for the Champion Belts presented by the Licensed Victuallers, and for the numerous prizes which have been so liberally given by the citizens. The programme is that the Town corps are to parade at the " Symons' Memorial " at 9.30 a.m., and to march thence to the railway station, where they will meet the Country Volunteers at 10 o'clock, and thence proceed to the ranges, where the entries are to be made at once, and the firing will commence at 1 1 o'clock and coutinue without intermission until the end of the competition.
