PUKE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT . TTNDER tbe Distinguished Patronage oi U his Majesty tbe King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction? from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as tbe committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be oi value as a medicament in cases of rheuma--3 tism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought en by the application of a medicament must increase inflani- [ mation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, epraine, etc., the curative power oi our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably prored by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased c The truth of oar aesertion ia founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight j. our extract- consists of the evaporating particles of the gum loaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and -. signature.
