Sharp & Pickering report a good attendance at their fortnightly sale at_ the White Hart Hotel, Richmond, yesterday, when in spite of the wet weather the yards presented a lively appearance, though the bidding was not at all spirited, and the business transacted ■was limited to a few lots of cattle at the following prices :— 4 head at £9 5s ; 1 at £5; 4at £5 10a ; 1 cow, £5 15s ; 10 bead, all at £22 5 5 head, all at jEI3 ; 2 calves, 37s 6d each ;12 pigs, each 47s 6d. 120 fat sheep and 340 stores failed to fetch satisfactory prices and were passed in. This may be accounted for by the parched condition of the country, as comparatively few farmers have any feed. Possibly the present rain may increase the value of sheep before the - next sale, which is advertised to take place on Wednesday, 19th May. Mr John R. Mabin reports that at the sale by auction yesterday, under bill of sale, of the furniture and effects'of Mr F. J. Manton there was a good attendance, but owing to the late frequent sales of furniture, the bidding was not brisk, nor the prices realised so - good as what otherwise would be expected. ' The prices realised for the principal articles were : — Piano, £52 10s ; drawing-room suite, £12 ; walnut oval table, £3 5s ; double iron bedstead, £3 ; chests drawers, £2 17s 6d to £3 12a 6d ; pier glass, £4 ; cheffonier, £4 78.6d f
