London, April 29. . The total reserve. in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £16,000,000. At the wool sales to-day 11,700 hales were offered, making a total of 93,200 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the market is quieter. .. The homeward English mail, via Brindisi, was delivered in London to-day. Lord Carthingford, formerly Mr Chi chf ster Fortescue has been appointed British Ambassador at Constantinople. Parliament assembled to-day, after the Ministerial crisis. The new members were sworn in, and the Right Hon Mr Brands was elected speaker. April 30. Lord Calingford ha 3 declined the Ambassadorship of Constantinople. Mr Ferrer Herschel has been appointed Solicitor-General.
