The Taiaroa, which brings down the Southern portion, proceeds from New Plymouth to Wellington direct, so as to catch the steamer leaving there for the South on Monday. We have received a copy of the Union Company's time table for the month of May. It is full of information regarding the doings of the Company's steamers during the month, and a" table of the running of the different trains throughout the colony is also given. The Union Company notify that . a special time table will be arranged to meet the convenience of visitors from the various parts of New Zealand to the Melbourne Exhibition, which opens on October Ist, also that excursion tickets will be issued at considerable reductiolis on ordinary, rates. This is a step in the right direction, and will no doubt lead to a larger number of passengers travelling in the Company's boats during the Exhibition season than would be the case if- the present high fares were charged.
