We can ctnscientiously recon msnd these suffering from deafness cr other raiments that Dr Grant has made a special study of, to pay him a visit, -when, if curable patients, they may certainly expect relief. An instance came under our eps<Sal notice on Thursday, in the cafe of a man nanud f!has. Swanson, who bas bten very deaf for three years, but after tea days' treatment, can now he-r petftctly even the lowest whisper. The cure is raiher a remarkable one, as he h«s been nuder the care of many medical men, but he received no benefit whatever from th ir treatment — " Few Zaalaiider," December 27, 1879. By the kind invitation of Proferaor Wallenburg and Dr. Grant, the editor of this j flurca^ in company with the editor of tbe Saturday A dvertiser, visited iheir <onsulli»g rooms, it the Criterion Hotel, yesterday morning. The first case shown was that of a Miss White aged 1 1 years, the daughter of a settler at Oamaru who haß been totally blind for years, This young lady bas been under the treatment of these clever ocuiiats for three days, and, wo"-derinl to say. her eyf sight ha 9 been perfectly restored. The father of the girl assured na thst he had placed her under the care of several medical men, who had failed to do her any good, despite the money he lavished upon her. The next was the case of a IV; las tiughes, a Dunedin resident, who stated that she bad been deaf for a period of over three years. Strnnge to Bar, ehe had only been under treatment for eight da) s, and her hearing has been fully restored. This fortuoate girl is nearly in ecstac'oa over her good fortune. The editor of this journal, accompanied by Mr. J. J. Connor, visited the cculists' consulting-rooms at the Criterion Hotel this morning. The first person the (ditor converged with was Daniel Mahoney, a laborer, residing at Logan's Point, who stated that he hal been totally blind for some two weeks, through a severe cold he had contracted. He bad been under private treatment tor a week, but he had got worse instead of letter. He was brought to Professor Wallenburg on the 11th mat., an J since then he has been under this clever oculist's treatment, with the result that he is now recovering the sight of both eyes. John Chalmers, a brickmaker. residing at Peliehet Bay, stated that be had been blind of the right eye for j over nine weeks, and the le f t one was commencing to ba affected by tbe right one. He vr&s under treatment at the hospital, but without any beneficial result. He had been nnder Profeeßor Wallenburg's treatment three weeks, and he now can discern the smallest object with both eyes. Patrick Connor, a miner, residing at Hinrion, was tbe next ratient consulted. He had been totally blind of the right eye for three months, and had been in the hospital unler treatment, which, he 6tates, tended to make the right eye worse, and to irjure the ldft one. lie went under Professor Wallenburg's treatment on the 9th October, and now ha is perfectly cured, and intends starting to follow his calling on Monday next.— Tiiapeha Times, 15:h November, 1879. AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. To the Editor. Sir, — You will much oblige me, aB weil as benefit the public in general, by inserting in your columns regarding the cure effected on my right eye, which was totally blind when 1 placed myself under the treatment of Doctor Grant and Wallenburg. I also found inysslt using the sight of the left eve. I have now recovered my sight, and am going to work to morrow. Out of gratitude to those gentlemen, alow me to thank them, and hope all those suffering in the eyes may avail themselves of their skill — 1 am, &c , Patrick Francis. Witness — W. J. Bawden, Logan's Point, Dumdin, 7th October, 1879 Dr Grant has recently effected a very re markable cure in the cute of Mrs D. Evans, of Eumara, who has been under hia treatment for deafness since the 24th Februery last, Mrs Evans has been deaf in both ears lor a very long period— no less than thiry years — her affliction having been caused by a lever from which she suffered severely. Since that time she has b^en almost totally deaf, for she could only hear the loudest sounds. Since she has Been under Dr Grant's treatment, her hearing has gradually improved, so that now she can hear plainly conversations in an ordinary tone of voice. She will return in a tew days to Kumsra perfectly well, and in possession Qt tbe full faculty of which she lias been to ] wz fovtlYi&^'filQMffl* fowim n%wmh\nih im^rn
