The Nelson Evening Mail. TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 1880.

A full report of the proceedings in the Police Court yesterday will be found on the fourth page of to-day's Issue. Mr. Arthur Sketchley arrived here by the Taiaroa to-day, aud will appear at tbe Masonic Hall this evening. No doubt tbere will be a large audience to listen to this brilliant humorist. Thb Nelson We9leyan Choir will give a vocal and instrumental concert in the Motueka Wesleyan Church on Thursday, April 29th. The Lady Barkly will make a special trip to Motueka on tbat day, leaving here at I*3o p.m., and there on the return trip at 10 p.m. Awohieu capital performance wai given at the Theatre Royal last night by the Georgia Minstrelß to a large and appreciative audience. The gem of tho evening wm a ballad on a recent local event entitled " The Death of Nelson," written and composed by Mr Beaumont, and wbich called forth loud peals of laughter from those present. The bill-of-fare for to night is an excellent one, and there is an entire change of programme. In addition to new songs, farces, &c, there will be put on the stage for the first time the great local farce " Go it Percy! or Forty Shillings and Costs." Thia in itself ought to attract a large audience. The concert held in Christ Church Sunday School, Shelbourne-street, last evening, proved a great success, the room being crowded in every available part. Upwards of 300 children and a large number of ladies and gentlemen were present. Mr H. D. Jackson occupied the chair, and, during the evening, told some very amusing anecdotes to the children. The chief amusement was the magic lantern, which highly amused the juveniles. The thanks of the committee are due to Mr. Crisp for exhibiting the same. Three cheers were given for the chairman, superintendent, andjthe exhibitor of the magic lantern. Altogether a very pleasant evening was spent. We would remind our readers, especially £hOB 6 about tO furnish, of the important pale i

to be heM by Mr Mabin to-morrow at Mr James' furniture warehouse, where the stock . is replete with every household requisite.
