PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT "TTNDER the Distinguished Patronage oi \J his Majesty tbe King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from tbe Consul -fieri eral for Italy, st Melbourne, upon instruction* from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine o f ten try to sell the euculyrtus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucal i ptus Extract. So far as tbe committing of imposition agaiuet tbe public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; bu- as the qualities of loth of the products ore in many cases directly opposed to oce another, we consider it our duty to direct ths public attention to tbe following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of valne as a medicament in casea of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests & drawing, blistering effect upon the s* in. Any blifctering brought tn by the application of a medicament must increase icfl immation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. the curative power oi our extract on the named diseises being unquestionably proved by foraier publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of cur extract must impair the diseased • The truth of our assertion is founded upon tbe fact tbat tbe oil is a resinous product equivalent to comn on turpentine, its market vaiue being about three shillings oae pound weight ; our txtract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price beiog twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in balf -ounce and one-onnce viais ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
