J?URE VOLATELE EUeALI^P- | TUS G^QBIJLME^RACW TTNDER the Distinguished Patronage ol \J bis Majesty tbe King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from tbe Consul-General for Italy, st. Melbourne, upon instruction'? from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated Uth March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found' iia the trade instead of onr Eucal \ ptus Extra* t. So fer as the committing of imposition Bgainst the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences, would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another., we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts' :— ■ The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be o( value ss a medicament in casea of rheumatiim of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering, effect upon the sHn. . . Any blistering brought eh by the application oi a medicaojtnt must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. the curative power oi Our extract on the named diseiaes being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased • : The truth of our assertion is' founded upon the fact that the pii is . a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine^ its market ialue being about tbree shillings one pound weight ; our extract, cop sifts, of the evaporating particles of ihe gum leaves, soothing and htaling in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article ie only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials.; vijils bearing on the labels our trade mark and Signature.
