' — schooner Uao, 28, Emms, for French Pass. — ketch Argus, 36, Williams for Waitapu. — cutter Midge, 16, Eure, for Waitapu. — cutter Planet, 12, Thorne, for Motueka. 2, steamer Waitaki, 228, Edie, for Picton, "Wellington, and South. Passengers: Miss Stanley, Mesdamea Jackson, Wither, Messrs Ford, Mackay, Jackson, Mowat, Gifford, Broughton (3), Hinde. __ — steamer Wftnaka, 278, M'Gillivray, for Taranaki aud Manukau. The Kennedy leaves Hokitika for Greymouth to-day. The Murray sailed for Wellington last night, and arrived there this morning. She leaves on the return trip tomorrow. The Charles Edward arrived from Wellington this morning, and sails for West Coast ports at 7 o'clock to night. The Grafton leaves Wellington to-morrow sight, will arrive here on Sunday morning, and sail for Westport and Greymouth on Monday. The Wanganui left Greymouth for Sydney on Wednesday last. The Wanaka, which takes the place of the "Wellington this trip, arrived here at 11 a.m. from Picton, Wellington, and South. She is still under the command of Captain M'Gillivray. The Wanaka sailed for Taranaki and Manukau by the same tide at 230 p.m. A The Wakatu is expected to arrive here from Wanganui on Sunday morning. She is announced to sail for Wanganui and Wellington on Monday. The Hawea leaves Wellington at 2 p.m. on Monday, will arrive here early on Tuesday morning and sail for Picton, Wellington, and South at 3 p.m. same day. The R.M.S. City of New York arrived at Auckland from Sydney early on Wednesday morning, having been detained by strong easterly winds. She sailed for Honolulu three hours later, and took a lnrge number of passengers, including Bishop Redwood, Pastor Chiniquy, and 16 converts to Mormonism. - The Waitaki arrived in harbor late last night. She left Onehunga at 11-30 a.ni on Wednesday, and arrived off New Plymouth early yesterday morning ; landed mails, passengers, &c, and proceeded ' on to Nelson at 830 a.m , arriving here as above. The Waitaki sailed for Pictou and Wellington at 11 a.m. to-day. A Glasgow paper, referring to a shipping disaster, winds up as follows: — "The captain ' swam ashore, so did the stewardess. She was insured for £5000, and loaded with Iron."
