PUEE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT TTNDER the Distinguished Patronage ol U his Majesty tbe King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-Gereral for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction*-* from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 187.. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucal.t ptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a esse is concerned, the consequences -would not bo serious ; but as the qualities of both cf the products nre in many casrs directly opposad to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be oi value cs a medicament in esses of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the s. in. Any bli.tering brought ( n by the application ol a medicament must increase inflammation, and it ia therefore evident that in casesof wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. the curative power oi our extract on the named disease, being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oi! instead of our extract must impair the diseased * The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact tbat the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about tbree shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, eoothing and healing in its eff'.ctß, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; viala bearing on the labels our trade mark aud signature.
