A long Cabinet meeting was held to-day to consider the situation, but the result is not yet known.

Adelaide, Thursday. The official statement of the South Australian wheat statistics shows that the total acreage is 1,453,096, producing 14,260,964 bushels. The average yield is 9 bushels 47 pounds per acre for the past season.
Melbourne, Thursday. The Government have decided to dismiss the Parliamentary Librarian. Mr Higginbotham has been reinstated in his former position of Engineer-in-Chief of Railways of Victoria. Mr Watson, the late Engineer-in-Chief, refuses to accept his old position, and resigns the public service.
The Union Company's Arawata has arrived from New Zealand.
