CORRESPONDENCE.
To Spi£l£ Ditolg of ' Evening Mail.' S*£-— la yo|ir"TJotice of .the flax prize yesterday you s^ -that the flax was dressed by the^Caojris. The buik of the exhibit was c ress*ed by Mr Sharland, of Maitai Valley, yith some small samples of Maori dressed flax to show what fineness it could be brought to if a machine could be invented to dress it properly. I also see by late telegrams that the Commission on Local Industries have sent circulars to all the different Chambers of Commerce for their opinion. Chambers of Commerce are generally composed of merchants whose interest lies in fostering imports and keeping local manufactures from being developed. If they had sent circulars asking for the opinion of all those engaged iv manufactures it would have shown more practical sense. By inserting this in your paper it may be the means of correcting the mistake. I am, &c. A. KOBEETSON.
