A COACH STOPPED BY NATIVES.

Wellington, Thursday. A telegram received from Foxton this morning states that Hastwell and Macara's coach was on the journey from Eoxton to Wellington, and when it had reached the road between the Mauawatu river and the heach it was suddenly stopped by a party of natives, who refused to allow it to proceed until tolls for the coach and horses had been paid, and also sixpence for each passenger. Matthew Grant's hundred acre paddock of wheat at Totara is threshing out over seventy bushels to the acre, the wheat being a fine sample. There are several other heavy yields in the same district.
