CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor op the 'Evening Mail.' Sir,— As many people both old and young, are suffering, some very severely, from diarrhoea, I wish to make known to them that in most places they have the antidote for this complaint at their own doors in the koromiko. Some thirty-six years ago, when living amongst the natives, I found them subject to this complaint, and whenever the attack came on they went at once to the koromiko, plucked off the leaves freely, chewing them well and simply swallowing the extract or juice, when the complaint was at once subdued, the cure being speedy and complete. Through all the years since I have not only used it myself, but have "recommended it to other sufferers, and never have 1 known it to fail, either with old or young. It is perfectly harmless, and may be given to an infant in proper quantity, and with the same result. It has the same effect on cattle. The way I use it, when the attack comes on, is simply to go to the koromiko, cut off a fair handful of the tender twigs, flowers and all put these in a quart pitcher, fill up with boiling water, and then cover up for twenty minutes, when it is ready for use. Then take a tea-cup full, and it the attack is severe, another in about an hour afterwards, and a third cup full in about two or three hours, { which is generally sufficient to conquer and

subdue the complaint entirely. I believe it would have the same effect in the English cholera, if taken in larger doses. Yours. &c, W. Hocoh.
