Melbourne, Wednesday. Sailed — Ringarooma, for New Zealand, to-day. Mr Service is busily engaged in forming the new administration, the personnel of which will be known to-morrow. The following are mentioned as likely to belong to the new Ministry :— Messrs Murray, Smith, Bent, Duffy, aud Kerford. Mr McMahon is spoken of as likely to be appointed Speaker of the Assembly. One hundred and ninety cantatas have been received in the competition for the prizes offered for a cantata, to be performed at the opening of the Exhibition. Sydney, Wednesday. A meeting of the Committee of the School of Arts was held last night to consider the question of opening, the Institution on Sundays. There was a very protracted discussion on the subject, but the motion in favor of opening on Sundays was finally carried. Brisbane, Wednesday. The Fitzroy River is in heavy flood and has risen five feet over the wharves at Jtockhampton. The banks of the river near the gas works are gradually crumbling away owing to the flood waters. Campbell, a notorious aboriginal desperado, has shot a black tracker in the arm. The barque {Gazelle has brought to Brisbane eighteen of the crews of a barque and schooner recently wrecked on the Solomon Group,
