London, February 23. Adelaide wheat, 59s 6d; Australian tallow, test beef, 35a 6d; best mutton, 36s 6d. At the wool Bales to-day 8000 bales were catalogued, and a firm and active demand continued. February 24. Three per cent Consols, 98. At the wool sales to-day 8,400 bales were catalogued, and the increased prices were firmly maintained. February 25. In the House of Commons to-day motions to restrict the duration of Parliament to five years, and to abolish the immunity of Members ef the Houses of Commons and Lords from arrest were brought forward. Both motions, however, were defeated after a debate. Calcutta, February 24 The Indian Finance Minister made his financial statement in the Legislative Counci to-day, and showed that the Indian finances •were in a very favorable condition, there being a surplus of £400,000, and consequently there will be no increase of taxation nor will any new loan be required.
