Passengers: Miss Cook, Master Pitt, Mrs Brown and child, Mrs Cook, Messrs Holmes, Sachmer, Pitt, Prescott (2), Ken, Cowie, Teschemaker, and Bryce. — cutter Maid of Italy, 15, Charles, from Riwaka. — cutter Planet, 12, Thome, from Motueka. SAILED. Feb. 5, steamer Charles Edward, 125, Whitwell, for Wellington. Passengers : Messrs Richardson (2), Mountain, Gibson, Turner, Harvey, and 4 steerage. — steamer Murray, 78, Conway, for West Coast. Passengers: Mrs Home, Messrs White, Marlow, Dyson, Sutherland, Tutty, Sheard, Ferguison, Vambelli, and 3 steerage. — steamer Wakatu, 78, Evans, for Wanganui and Wellington. Passengers: Mrs Bush, Messrs, Newport, Bell, and 2 steerage.
The Murray should arrive at Westport this afternoon. The Charles Edward sailed for Wellington at eight o'clock last night, and arrived there this morning. The Kennedy leaves Wellington to-night, will arrive here to-morrow morning, and sail for West Coast ports at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The Waka'tu sailed for \^anganui shortly after 9 p.m. yesterday, and arrived there today. She leaves for Wellington this evening. The Nelson friends of Capitan Scott, of the Chaudiere, will be glad to hear of the safe arrival of that vessel at London, which port she reached last week, after a passage of a little over 100 days from Wellington. The Taiaroa arrived in harbor early this morning, having left Wellington at I p.m. yesterday, and Picton last night. She left liyttelton before the arrival of the express train with the Suez mail, which arrived at the Bluff by the Ringarooma on Tuesday morning. The Taiaroa sails for Taranaki and Manukau at 4 p.m. The City of Sydney did not reach Auckland until 4 p m. on Wednesday, a few hours behind time, strong easterly winds having detained her. She sailed for San Francisco at B*3o p.m. with the outward mail.-. The Wellington arrived in harbor at 2 am. to-day. She left Onehunga at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, and arrived off New Plymouth at G am. yesterday ; landed mails, passengers, and cargo, and proceeded on to Nelson at 11 a.m., arriving here as above. Fine weather was experienced throughout the, pasage. The Wellington sailed for Picton and Wellington this afternoon. An Auckland telegram of Wednesday says: —The Sophia, three-masted schooner, which left Oamaru on the 22nd with 200 tons of Btone, has put into port in distress, having on the 28th struck on the Bull Rock off Portland Light at 1I : 3O p.m. The night waß very fine, but it is thought a strong tide got hold of her. She bumped three times, and went over the rock. She made a large quantity of water, but managed to put into this port. The damage cannot be accurately ascertained until she is unloaded and goes into dock.
