DEATH OF MR. POLLOCK.
It is with no ordinary feelings of regret that we to-day announce the death of one who for the last twenty-five years has resided in Nelson, and in that time had succeeded in making himself so universally popular that a very large number of those who read these lines will feel that they convey to them the intimation that they have lost a friend. Of a most genial nature, hospitable, and kind hearted to a degree, and never so happy as when seeing those around him enjoying themselves, it is not to be wondered at that the feeling of sadness was a very general one last night when it became known that Robert Pollock had passed away from the midst of thoae who had for so long been accustomed to see, and who never failed to welcome, the bright cheery face which now lies hushed in death. With the widow and family of the deceased gentleman there is a very widespread sympathy in their hour of sorrow.
